Hmm, well it does involve a human or humans and a family is in there, plus the dog. I know to some animals are thought of as part of the family and I think that is point of this story, to show that they (dogs) have value and place in the family to those who are skeptics (even dead). you did a good job of that in this fictional piece. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for reviewing. I appreciate it. It also includes her "adopted" grandchildren to show that the concept of family is a bit flexible to include all who are loved and treated as family.

Thank you for your review. I appreciate it. Yes, the concept of family does include our special four-egged ones, as well as any other two legged ones we may "adopt'along life's journey.
