Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This poem expressing the power and strength of determination amid uncertainty is perfectly written and emotionally compelling. Of course, as a New Hampshirite I am biased since you chose Portsmouth for your stage. I once lived there and am familiar with the colonial and post-colonial homes with widow's walks on the roofs. We also have a wistful expression about buying something extravagant "when our ship comes in." Far too many never arrived with that valuable cargo. I liked the inclusion of Winslow and gulls wheeling. Excellent poem.

I am thrilled and honored that a former Portsmouth resident you could relate so well to my poem. Many thanks, Susan, for your wonderful praise and those six bright stars.
