There is a profound message in this well written eight word poem. Some introspection gives one pause to reflect our own mortality.

Well done.

Deep! A few words capture an emotion that perhaps and essay wouldn't have conveyed. I did look up the meaning of bemoaning which made it a bit easier to understand the poem. The words were well chosen and the poem flowed smoothly. Thanks for sharing!

This is another short poem that packs an emotional wallop. Deep down we all fear death and what comes after, but we don't talk about it...you have very succinctly put those feelings into eight words. Best of luck in the contest. :)

Nice 8-word poem that reflects the inner, deep dialogues before that transcendental moment of "leaving this life". Artwork you have chosen is simple and with no colours but message is implicit in just straight lines. Great writing and great artwork!! All recognitions were really deserved. Good luck!

None of us knows for sure what happens when we die. I read the Bible and I believe in God and Heaven and Jesus. But if we're honest. no one has ever come back to tell us. Therefore, it leaves us to our own faith. I believe I'm going to Heaven, but? Therefore it's never too early nor to late to prepare for death. I believe Jesus is my savior. Also since no one knows their time of death ahead of time, I believe that you are always prepared for it. It could happen in the blink of an eye. You said all you had to say in eight words, I took a few more. LOL Good luck with the contest!

Patty, thank for expanding on my words. We come in on a first breathe and we leave on our last breath. In between, we laugh, love, cry, dance, and some pray. We each have a promise to have Eternal life?.

A very profound statement in only eight words, J.
It made me think of a Rich Mullins song,
"The Jordon is waiting for me to cross...'
And it waits for us all. I hope to be at a point not to be bemoaning my life choices, but rather celebrating them when it's my turn to cross. Excellent entry for the contest.
Blessings,
Deb

Deb, thank you! From beginning to end, we live with Free Will it?s what we do with that free will that matters, however, we are promised Eternal life through out.

I would have to say this is a very well-constructed and meaningful eight-word poem, JLR. I really liked the way you described the approach to end-of-life concerns, calling it "death's unknown rivers," and I thought the word "quivers" was a genius word choice. It says so much about the speaker's uncertainty and fear of the unknown. Not everyone can make a meaningful eight-word poem that also rhymes, but you've done a splendid job of it. Good luck in this contest. You have a great entry. MM

Poetry of life and death is very normal and wrote about often, one might think this would make me tired of reading them but on the contrary. I love reading poems like these and even though it is short, I enjoy the unknowingness of death and the expectations of life.

Thank you Aprelle! We, everyone has a first and last breath in our lifetimes, it?s how we live, love, laugh and pray in between that provides a sum total of our end times.

Excellent poem for the 8 words or less poem contest! The poem reads well and makes sense! A lot of short poems do not;-)

Thanks so much for sharing and many blessings to you and your family;-)
