Love the pic you chose, it enticed me into opening the page.
Much of your poem describes my home.
I love autumn and its warm orange , red warm hues.
Where I live it is also a season the land produces much: potatoes, cabbage , pumpkin, the apple and grape harvest and much more.
We have barn swallows that take wing for the Sahara.
My woods are full of chestnut and mushrooms
During Winter most of nature sleeps covered by a white blanket giving us the impression that life has stopped so we associate it to DEATH .
It's cold and gloomy , for many Christmas cheers them up but by end Feb we are all happy to see the first signs of Spring.
God created us a wondrous homeland

Beautifully written. Your verse creates color and the depth of emotion felt when things end with the promise of new beginnings. It is spiritual and quiet but underneath there is a great stirring of feeling. Besides being poignant and soul-stirring, it makes you consider age-old universal truths about life and death. A well written poem about the oncoming winter and I liked it started off quite somber with the birds leaving the clouds and winds all signs of the next season to come and ends nicely with enjoying the beauty of it while we can. Well done.

Just as an aside, I have never looked upon "Winter's presence" as heralding death. For me, it is a time of insulating and sleeping... of taking inventory and gaining strength for the coming spring...
