Congratulations on your win. Well-written and poignant. A much-deserved win for this contest. I love the line, 'there is coldness still within me and contracts to be fulfilled. It makes him such a sympathetic character. Your meter and pacing are very good too.

Another very competitive entry! Well written with a different and creative turn to the story. I was drawn in on the first line and held tight until the end. I feared the character would turn on his found 'conscience' but rather you made it a part of who he is. Good job. ann

I think this is an exceptional poem. I like that you painted a picture of a ruthless, relentless and hitman with no guilt or even attachment to his job, and then gave him a tiny spark of humanity. Well done.

This is a different one and well done. The reader hopes the child will change the hitman's life, but although his heart is softened, he still continues to kill.

This is an amazing poem about a difficult subject. It's not easy writing about someone who is at ease with taking a life. This poem dies ab excellent job at it. Compelling.

I like reading crime thrillers so this poem appealed to me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I particularly liked the way that you split the past with the present and that although he kills for a living he still has a tender heart. Thanks for sharing.

This hit man has had a change of heart and maybe he needs to retrain in a different line of work, that is if he doesn't get arrested and serves a life sentence! Ha ha ha, a fun post, love Dolly x

A story very well told. You take the reader into the mind of a professional cold-blooded killer and in the end make them sympathize with him! I enjoyed the poem. Good luck in the contest!

You have really described, what we think of, would be the mind of a hit man that is melted by blue eyes. I'm thinking it was a cat that melted his heart. A good write for this challenge topic. Good luck with it.
