The poem brought back memories for me. The author's words are clear,
honoring and creative. My dad was in the military so I used to visit his
and my mom's graves at a military cemetery in New York. The poem makes an engaging statement. Hope you are doing okay....Maria

Thanks, Maria. We've been friends since we were 7 - or 90% of our lives.

I am sorry for your loss and your dear husband is now at peace after such trauma. He will be honoured to be buried among his colleagues here, a very touching Haiku, love Dolly x

Thanks, again, Dolly.

I always think Haiku should be about something of intense value and there is nothing greater than love for each other and country. The alliteration ties everything together in one neat package that packs a punch. Your picture of lives surrendered to a cause that took them from their loved ones, is moving. Well done! I would vote for this!

Oh, Jan. My heart hurts for you, but at least I know you know the Lord. Plus, your husband gave you much to be proud of. Hugs and prayers from me to you

Hello, my friend, I'm very sorry for your loss. Your poem is a beautiful tribute but it's not a haiku. Haiku are about nature. Yours is a senryu, which deals with human nature.
Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice presentation.

Beautifully written, an excellent post my friend. When we were in the US we had the privilege of visiting the large burial site at the Arlington site, a wonderful experience, beautifully written, blessings Roy
Query Jan. is that half-mast, or half staff?

Your well-written short poem shows how important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes. We should never forget men who dies just to make us live in peace. Well done. Good luck!

' Military Honours ' , is short, succinct and deftly descriptive. Woven through these short lines are the golden threads of truth. It was a privilege to read and review this talented poet's work. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

Hi, duchess. This came out of the blue so I am still reeling a bit; however, my faith is deep as you know. My daughter lives next door and is a great source of support. Thanks for asking. Jan
Jan, you certainly deserved it. If you have support when you're a million miles ahead.
Bless you and take care,
the Duchess

the honor your husband will
receive for his "send off."

No, Pam, he will be buried at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery which just happens to be located in my city. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Jan

So sorry to hear of your loss, but it is pleasing that he will be recognised with a fitting military burial and in an appropriate military cemetery. I hope that the occasion brought you comfort after what must have been a dreadful few weeks. Best wishes.
