WENDY!

hahahahaha! What a horrible story - but we all know this stuff happens. I almost forgot my son once as I got out of the car to go in the grocery store. Didn't, thank heavens!

But I have forgotten my phone on an airplane and left my very expensive camera in a hotel room after checking out. It happens!

Thanks so much Robyn for a super review! It seems that the practice of leaving children behind is quite common! lol.

This is very nice and it adheres to all those rules. Oh well. Yes, I guess in this case forgetfulness runs in the family. Those things do make for light heart stories that can be told to friends and family. And this is fiction so there is that.

Good luck in the contest.

Wow! I'm getting more and more forgetful as I get older, but I can't imagine forgetting one's child. Maybe that's because I never had one. I guess I can see how it could happen. When I'm really tired, I can put something down and a minute later wonder where I put it! Good job with this.

Thank you Mary. A lovely review. From the reviews it would seem as if this is actually quite common! More than one would think! Hopefully it means that people can either relate to my story or be shocked by it! Lol.

Wendy G Oops! your fiction story to me actually happened. You did well how you. described what could happen when one is over tired. And have to phone the police and Social Services get involved.

Hi Gert, thank you so much for reviewing. Much appreciated. It seems that everyone has either done this, or almost done it, or something similar. Hopefully that means that many will relate to my story!

I have seen stories similar to this on the news. I think it is a sign of being too busy and having a lack of sleep, lol. Two forgetful characters in one family! I can tell they will have many more stories to tell!
For a twist, you could write a story where someone forgets to pick up a child, goes to get it and when they get to where the forgotten child is supposed to be, they remembered they made other arrangements for someone to pick up the child! I have done this years ago!
I enjoyed your story!

Thanks so much Tina. Lovely review. There are lots of variations on this theme, and I think many people will relate - either having done it or almost having done it. Thank you for your suggestion too.

Oh yes, these things can happen. My daughter was a single parent, working a full time job and getting her master's degree. After one terribly difficult week, she stopped at the store, bought the things they needed and found the check out line. One of the kids was playing hide and seek from another one. My daughter told the kids to get in the car while she put her bags in the back. Her tired self assumed everyone was in.... but she was out of the parking lot before she noticed one was missing. Panicking she turned around and rushed back, asking the other kids (a total of five) why they didn't tell her. The only answer was 'we didn't really need him anyhow.'

I find this eminently believable. It is the sort of thing I could easily do if I was churning over some aspect of plot or character in my book at the time. But there is a far weightier piece of evidence for the defence. A fellow called Joseph and his wife a woman called Marty left their child behind, each believing that the child was with the other when in fact the prrecocious little fellow was debating with the Nazarene university lecturers.

Ah yes, excellent thought! That should make my sister-in-law feel better.
I think it is more common than is generally realised! Usually it all sorts itself out and missing child, or baby, or briefcase, is safely found.
    Many thanks for reviewing.

It does run in the family. Years ago, I was acquainted with a woman who had been married seventeen years before they had a baby. She would frequently leave the house without the baby. She finally got used to remembering it, and no harm was done.

Thank you for reviewing. Much appreciated. (My sister-in-law had been married for six years, and she was always a bit forgetful, like my husband!)

Great story for the contest. We have five kids, and we once drove off with our youngest still outside playing in a sandbox! We had to rush back. Luckily, no problems.

The more reviews I get, the more I realise how very common this is! We've all either done it, or know some-one who has. I hope it means people will relate well to the story! Many thanks for the review.

How much drams here Wendy, it's amazing what extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people, I've never heard of someone nearly having their valise blown up because they've neglected it, nor a new born baby left in a car park, I do admire you imagination Wendy, such a marvellous story, well done, grea job, blessings Roy
