Congratulations for being recognized and for your second-place finish. It has come to my attention that I may have failed to fan you since I don't receive notices of your work. I plan to rectify that soon today and fan you. I am very sorry for the oversight.

Hello Mystery Writer,
Well, I am of the thought that we can only go up from here?
Optimistic-realist here... I don't foresee this year being horrible, but it surely will have its challenges.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! And let's all hope for a "brighter future!"

Best Wishes!

Thank you Diane, I certainly hope things get better. I suppose whether you believe it is a good year or bad year depends on what you focus on. I'm not predicting anything. I just wanted to write ten line rhyming poem. LOL

Very clever, and quite on-pointe (sic). We cannot be sure what lies ahead other than life is shorter today for you and I and everyone than it was yesterday.

Thank you so much for your review on my poem. I'm hoping things will get better but who knows. You are right life for all of us is shorter by each day that passes.

I try and stay away from news, I limit it to one hour. In all actuality in an hour they usually report most information twice. Every half hour. I have hopes for our future.
Your poem made me think, I like that.

Thank you so much for the review. I hope for the best as well. It is just in the last few years things keep getting worse instead of better.

oh, very nice ten-line poem contest entry.
But don't fear the new year. it can't get worse...lol
i think the poem is well written and i see you used 8-9-11-8-8-11-8-8-8-11 aabaabcccb, structure. Is there a reason why? or just something you were trying?

Well thanks for sharing and I hope you do well in the contest.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I see I wrote it wrong. It is 8-8-11-8-8-11-8-8-8-1l. I've used that rhythm and rhyme pattern before and I like the way it flows. It is similar to the pattern Poe uses in his poem the Raven.

    Oh wow, very interesting.
    I'll be honest, I didn't check.
But that's a great refence to be using

I'm with you.... Not an auspicious beginning what with omicron and all. Never would have guessed we'd still be grappling with this in 2022. Hope remains! Cheers!

Thank you again. I hope this pessimistic view of the year is just that, and this will be the year things start to return to normal.
reply by karenina on 08-Jan-2022
Oh my. I heard the prez say we'll be returning to something like "a new normal" today... That's underwhelming!

Fortunately my joy or happiness can never depend on the news, otherwise my life would be ruled by what's going on around me, and I would hope my faith is not on prevailing conditions, or even someone's "prophetic" view. Beautifully written, great rhyming and some soun advice, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. My happiness doesn't depend on the news either. I not so worried. I just wanted to write a ten-line poem with that rhythm pattern. It kind of reminds me of Poe's "The Raven."

The author's words are alarming, clear, a possibility, depressing and
creative. I try to keep a positive outlook yet as the author says in this
poem "I hope we're not regressing". Sometimes I feel like we are! The artwork is awesome. Thank you for a great poem!

We hope to achieve greatness when we start a new year but in reality not much changes. Making those changes is probably the hardest thing to do in life and not many can be bothered. Those who shine have a positive attitude and this is what we need to encourage, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly, I'm hoping your are right and we have nothing to fear from the future. Maybe we can make it a year of recovery.

Good reflection! And yes, good idea to put the news stations in the background and not let their fear tactics drive you to distraction. Enjoyed your well rhymed ten line poem. Hope you do well in the contest!

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I hoping the media is wrong again and this might be a year of recovery. Thanks for noticing the misspelling.
