The repetition of the last line, with the stalking wolf, gives a premonition of danger, and one cannot relax or lessen one's guard. Tears filling jars - they are counted as precious by God. He sees each one. Well written.

Loved your kyrielle sonnet, Roy! You do this form so well. I feel a strong spiritual warning in this poem. It's no wonder that Jesus asks us to pray for protection against temptation. Great Scripture verses, too!

Powerful imagery, well-phrased.

How many tears a jar will fill==sounds backwards--suggest replace with your penultimate line: How many jars could tear-drops fill,

This was well done, Roy. I loved how you started the poem with a question and ended or rather the second last line with a question. You went full circle. The last line of each stanza was repeated. Your words investigated the span of life. Very much enjoyed. Blessings.

Now Roy, this is down right frightening! It's a dooms day prediction as opposed to anything relaxing or soft to read. You come in with your words flaming around you like a sword and go all wolfy which is perhaps never a good thing. This one affected me on a few levels.

You have to know it?s background to know the source. I don?t think the world situation is exactly upbeat and optimistic, but believe or not the poem is upbeat, heh heh, thanks Deb, blessings Roy

So true my friend.

The warlock call is out and about
The evil last days have begun
The wolves blatantly call the sheep
And bleatingly they come

There is a side to nightfall
Eternity has held
For hapless prey and those who say
"Long last the dog's kingdom"

Through liquid light they delight
To sneer leer, and mock you
They dart back into shadows
They stay just out of view

So gather all your kinsmen
Protect them with your love
Teach them about His wisdom
Share the peace from above

His mantel will drape around you
It will cover all your fears
He will carry all your burdens
He always will be near

So as the days go marching by
And we grow ever stronger
Prowling wolves seem less a threat
As we approach "Up Yonder"

From up there upon that knoll
And if we could look back
We'd see a group of struggling dogs;
A devilish mongrel pack

They'd be howling lost in time
Chasing their own tails
To the center of all evilness
Where sin and hate prevail

We will not be bothered
By the absent unctuous dark
We shall sing great praises
Of God's great work of art

Our voices bright with glory
Rising sweetly from our lips
Will fill all of heaven
With gracious thankfulness

Until that time abide in Him
Heed not the warlock call
Their darkest hour's coming
The wicked will surely fall

A superb poem James, are you going to post, I wrote my first song in 1990, you beat me by a fair margin. Thanks dear friend for your continued faithful support, and outstanding comments, reviews and stars, blessings Roy

Yes, Roy, I will post in the near future. First, I have prose to polish and finish.
    All the best, James.

Hello Roy, a thought-provoking Kyrielle sonnet. The wolf gives us lots to think about. Your poem reads and flows well and has silky rhyming within. I especially liked:

The hunter hovers like a hawk*,
yet in the night the wolf doth stalk
(Good alliteration with hunter/hovers/hawk
and vivid imagery of the wolf in the night.)

Thank you for your informative author's notes. They are very helpful.
Well chosen artwork. A pleasure to read. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

This is superb writing. I only wish my words could flow so smoothly across the page. Your refrain worked perfectly. I write more prose than poetry but the quality of your is obvious.

Beautiful. The flow here is excellent, easy to read while still holding a clear sophistication. I love the image that comes from the line, "How many jars could tear-drops fill." Great job!
