I would call this poem..fun. Your graphic choice was excellent as it created a picture of a true summer picnic. Your rhyme scheme is catchy, and I really enjoyed reading this work. Good luck and keep writing!

a fun poem about going on a picnic. Hot dogs are always a treat for a summer day; also, potato salad and potato chips, a can of beans and some Kool aide, too.

Beans...yes! I forgot about those. Kool-aid sounds great too. Thanks for this nice review. :)

Picnics are one of my favorite summer activities as well! It has to be at a lake though. I really can't imagine anything more pleasant or fun. What a lovely poem! Thanks for sharing

Yes, I like picnics too. There is nothing quite like a basket full of food, accompanied by a crowd of children, under trees and near a creek. I prefer tree changes to sea changes, 'cos there's not so much mess at the end of the day. Potato salad is one of my favourite things to take on a picnic, so your poem about picnicking gets a full vote from me.cheers Cass

This is a good entry for the - Summer Fun writing prompt contest.
I enjoyed the fun loving feel of this piece. The joys of gathering
with friends and family, eating a smorgasbord of food and having
playful times of games and lounging.
Just a couple of suggestions, if I may, as shown in ( ).
(By) some nice lake or ocean shore,
The lines below are similar and use the word - sun - more than once.
with trees to shade us from the sun,
while we nap after all our fun.
Then eat some more, sit in the sun,
then languish there till day is done.
An example for change could be:
Then eat some (apples one by one,)
(and) languish there till day is done.
Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the competition.
