This poem was very captivating. The issue of emotional dependency is a commonality amongst us all at times in our lives. I was totally drawn into the narrative of this poem. Very strong language that exuded heavy emotion. The last line was my favorite. It was a simple line, but it was very powerful! Thank you for sharing!

The work highlights the all pervasive influence of the animal pet in all the spheres of the protagonist's life; its demise and how it affected his long held views of life.
