I need to build a fortress too...to block out the turmoil that seems to surround me, but then I wonder if I leave behind the ones I love as well. I am still building in my heart and mind, to believe I follow the way he wants me to go...It's a very tall and rugged mountain to climb, but I am sure in the end his comfort will far exceeds my struggles.

Always, Carol

I am continually inspired by your gift of expression and writing.
I am encouraged as I read your entries.
I have always been drawn to the great poets of the past and anyone like yourself who is gifted in that manner today. Your poem entitled "A Fortress" is beautiful.
As a result of this review I have been exposed and have learned the origin and requirements involved in the writing of a 'rondeau' poem. Which you have appeared to have adhered to in accordance to your excellent supportive notes. Your rhyming is great. I am counting 14 Lines but I am understanding that an original 'rondeau' is 15. And that lines 9 and 15 are short. I follow line 9 but am not seeing a similar short refrain line 15. Am I missing something or is line 15 omitted? I follow that all other lines are longer and the same metrical meter count of 8. Your supportive choice of art is excellent. Because I am not quite understanding the structure I have concentrated my review comments on the layout rather than the actual story line which I thoroughly have enjoyed and is supported with scripture in your notes. It is an awesome poem and deserves six stars in my opinion.

What a great message, Roy! I always pray for God's protection over my mind and heart because the evil one can so easily affect our thinking and desires. Thank you for saying it so well.
I think you are missing your 15th line with just the refrain.

A fine sentiment and excellent rhythm and rhymes.

Just need to add the last line

I build a fortress.

Love your publishing here, and rondeau. :))

Blessings Owen, "To live by faith in wisdom's face", describes what I also think living by faith means; that every step we take in life is witnessed by our creator. Although we cannot see him we sense his face is ever before us. Well done, God bless you, friend.

The Rondeau form is new to me, and I appreciate the explanation. I also love the fortress imagery, and the decision to embrace wise options, to live by faith with wisdom and trust. I'm wondering if you left off the refrain at the end on purpose, as you have 14 lines here. I like the rhymes you chose. Blessings. Carol
