I found Chapter One! Now, Ill hope to read your entire book, so far. I'm still trying to navigate this site well. I hope I have become your Fan. I'll get the hang of this and, in the meantime, I'm enjoying your writing, and your yse if dialog and dialects, that stood out, to me. :) Alex

Hi Sandra,
This is a good start to the continuing saga. We'll have to wait and see the story unfold. Maybe the daughter can be part of the time traveling group now.
I think I'd prefer we wouldn't to we'd not.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

    Hi Joan, thank you so much for this lovely review. I've been pondering whether to continue with my time-travelling family, or write another one with Bessie, the novel I've been writing now. I've only a couple more chapters before it's finished. You reading and reviewing this first chapter made me take another look at it and I've now decided to run with it. Mildred had a lot of fans around the world, and I've been asked many times if I was ever going to write another one. So, yes, I will! Thank you, dear friend, you made my mind up for me! Love and hugs, Sandra xx (I'll change it to, ...we wouldn't ... xxx

Yes, yes, BRING THEM BACK! I don't know why I haven't read this before now. I will have to look for these editions on Amazon. I have nothing to say other than you are an inspiration to the craft. I truly enjoy your work. You have to forgive my enthusiasm it may come across as a bit immoderate, however genuine. Loved it!

    Aw, thank you. I'm working on the plot ready to get cracking on it once 'The Return' is finished. I've been so pleased with the response, it seems everyone wants them back. And I just LOVE your enthusiasm, what author wouldn't? You are really kind, and I'm so glad that you are a fan of my writing style. Warm hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Sandra,

I got a little worried that you had set aside the other story with the lady and the house and the ghost... But I see now that you are only entering the first chapter contest. Whew. *smile*

A note, perhaps?
* 'Am I'm glad today's over? I can relax a bit now
--> Am I glad...

Thanks!

    Aw, thanks, Robyn! How I missed that humongous error, I don't know. It nearly hit me in the face! Lol. Yes, I was testing the water to see if people would like the time-traveling duo to come back, and it looks like that will be my next book.
    I'm working on chapter 5 of the other book at the moment. I won't be stopping that one. I'm enjoying writing it. Thanks, my friend. Hugs and love. Sandra xx

Well, this is certainly a different duo. The narrator, a time traveler from today, or twenty years ago in the twentieth century, and her g-g-grandmother (?), also a time traveler, solving mysteries. That's different.

    I just wrote out a huge reply explaining Mildred and blinked and it had gone!
    Short version is, Mildred is from the late 1800s sent by the 'Powers That Be' to help Veronica, who lives in the later part of the 20th century. They both travel back in time to solve unresolved mysteries and make sure changes that would affect the future, don't happen. Quite simple really! Lol. It's not until the end of the last chapter in the third book that they discovered they were related.
    I had ended the series there, but keep being asked to bring them back. I'm definitely over the moon that you enjoyed it, Bill, thank you so much! And a big hug for that golden star! Have a wonderful week, my friend. :) Sandra xx

I, for one, will be eagerly looking forward to the return of these two characters. I love the way you portray Mildred, in particular. You have done a great job of setting up the forthcoming story in this opening chapter.
I'm not against adverbs for they have a valuable role to play, but I've got into the habit of looking for extraneous ones in my own work. Does this one add anything? I shook my head, completely(?) unable to contain my laughter any more.

    No, it doesn't add anything, and I've just removed it. Thanks, Tony. I will take extra care in future, not to put in adverbs unless I have to. I've been amazed at the following Milded has, everyone likes her. It wasn't planned when I first started the trilogy. Isn't it funny how things work out? Thanks so much, my friend. I'm so pleased you'll be reading it. I'll finish The Return first, I just wanted to know if people would like to read another on these time-travellers so I can start making some notes. I've got my answer loud and clear!! Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

    Are you alright? I feel your pain, because I've felt it myself when I lost my Millsie. Sending loads of hugs, my special friend. xxx

    Aww, thank you, Louise, I really appreciate your wonderful comments of my writing and my character, Mildred. She is an absolute innocent who everyone seems to love. I'm so pleased you you enjoyed reading chapter one. Warm hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Your first chapter was interesting, Sandra. I'm glad I stopped by to read and review it. I remember the books with Mildred and Veronica. I like the last line about 'another assignment.' You give readers great info about the clothes and leave them wondering what the women were thinking. You described the family well, too. Ann may have an important role if this first chapter leads to more. Michael seems 'all boy.'

Respectfully, Jan

good six inches taller than his sister Ann and (me) I, [that is unless this is UK normal talk]

    Thank you so much, Jan, for this lovely review. I'm so pleased you remembered them. I corrected that line, it's not the way we say it in the UK either. I just plodded on without realising I written it that way! Another senior moment!! Yes, Michael is 'all boy' lol. Thanks so much, my friend! Warm hugs, Sandra xxx
