Jaybird, you're one year older than my father was, and the sesame was true for him. He outlived neighbors and all classmates but one. I know it must be difficult, but I learned every day we are given a new and precious day. God bless you for your stellar writing and touching May hearts with your works. Your poem is poignant and sweet and very well written.

I wish my mind were as sharp at 61 as yours is at 96. You write so beautifully and expressively, without poetic artifice. You simply state truths to which we can all relate, employing excellent rhyme and rhythm. Your poems often speak of age, as this one does, but one of the things I love about them is that you always speak of it with gratitude and not self-pity. I always look forward to reading your work because, in addition to your talent, you have such a positive attitude.

What an unusually honest, almost brutally honest poem. A privilege to read really, because I don't know anyone as old as you. Close, but not someone I am near enough to to have this kind of conversation with.
