The author's words are upsetting, heartfelt, descriptive and creative.
I identified with the author's words. I recently had to move after living
in my apt. for 10 year - owners were selling. The author's words are expressed with details and are clearly stated.
Wishing you the best....Maria

Thank you, Maria. I really appreciate the review and comments. If I have to move, I would be devastated. I seldom throw anything away and I wouldn't know how to begin to downsize.

Great description of your home, lots of room, but much too big for one person alone. I am glad that when my husband passed away, we had already sold our home and were living in an apartment.

Thank you Anne. I appreciate the review and comments. I know a lot of couples try to take care of the big house problem before one of them is no longer around. We both loved where we were living so I had been the one to go, he would likely be still living here alone.

Very Nice Poem Mrs. Beth.
I'm the same. I have an 8-bedroom house. 4 baths, 6 fireplaces,
Living room, den, formal dining room, office, library, butlers' kitchen.
I use one room in the whole house. Not sure what to do with it.
All alone here too.

Thanks for sharing.
The poem touched me.
Gee

Thank you Gee or should I call you Mr. Gee. Do you like staying in your big like I do or would your prefer something smaller? I appreciate your review and comments. Are you going to post another chapter to the book soon?

Long story. But I love the house. It was built in 1875 as the county courthouse.
I purchased for my family to each have a room and spend holidays here. But shortly afterwards a bad family argument erupted, and no one has ever visited me.

    So, I set here hoping.

As to the book chapter, yes, probably tomorrow I'll post another.

    Thanks
    Gee

That a tough one. I hope there are some softening of hostilities. That is no way to live.

This is such a beautiful poem and I know that Evan and his memories are with you there so you would never want to leave it. Still, I'm sure your children worry about you being alone in that big house. Moving means so much adjustment in the transition. Congratulations on the win!!!
One suggestion:
but buyer's offers, I've refused. (buyers') seems like more than one are haunting you in your sleep.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. At some point, I may not be able to be alone but I'm happy here of now. Thank you for noticing things that have gone unnoticed in all my works you read. I may have already nominated you for reviewing but if I haven't a will.

This poem, Home Alone, is a bit sad as it tells the readers that there may come a time when all that they surround themselves with may seem like nothing someday.

I'm really not sad. I enjoy where I live and don't want to leave. I like my privacy. I can be in contact with others without having them underfoot. I see people when I want to and otherwise, I'm in contact by phone and computer.

I hear you Beth, a very close friend of ours is similarly situated, we shared a meal together with Elaine, her, her sister in law and myself, her husband died a few years ago, and all six kids have gone, she has four bedrooms, two large bathrooms, toilets and a huge living area, her cries are the same, but, like you, she's reluctant to leave, great poem Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you for a great review Roy. I'm sure there are many people that feel the same way as me. We've lived here since 2001. It has 19 acres and really large brick house. We had 143 acres in Mississippi but this is a much better location on a mountain but only 7 minutes from anything you might need. It is like living in the country with the city minutes away.

Should I start a pot? I thought you English people preferred a cuppa tea.

I?m Australian silly, although I think we tend toward the coffee culture these days.

You were just telling me you were a native of England. I know you live in Australia now. I prefer coffee too.

I was born there, I own two passports, but my heart is here, partially there, but this is my home. I was only eight when we left.

Yes, it's the memories and the love which are holding you to the house, your home. The place itself may be too big, but you would miss it greatly if you were ever to leave. Beautifully written. Best wishes for the contest.

This is a lovely poem about being alone after your spouse passed. When you have lived in a house for several years you gain a lot of treasures. So even after a loved one is gone, it still feels like home.

Thank you for the review. I do like being here, but at some point such a large house become a big responsibility.

This is a nicely written poem for the house poem writing prompt. It has a nice flow and rhyme scheme. Beautiful photo to compliment your words as well. Good luck in the contest.
