Nicely done! I have a red-tailed hawk who lives nearby. I live in fear for my dog, but they are beautiful animals. You captured the moment of the squirrel's demise well. Good luck!

Great poem for the contest. I love the brutality and beauty of red-tailed hawks as they kite in the air and then plunge with talons out to kill a prey. Well-done!!!!!!!!!!

You've presented the reader with an action-packed glimpse of the hunting skills of the red-tailed hawk, in a fine unrhymed poem. Here we have nature at its most raw - you have set the scene very well in sight and sound.
