I love the picture that gives inspriation to this piece--those could be my books. The poem evokes the cold and contempative season that calls for the opening of fine vintage books.

Longfellow, Wordsworth, and Eliza Snow are favorites of mine. Do you have those relics shown in your personal library? if so, I am envious. Is this your picture?

Hello Tom. Thank you very much... they are favorites of mine too. No, not my photo, but I wish it were :)

... do you perchance live by the shore of Gitche Gumee? Your poem brought memories back to me of my father reading me the Song of Hiawatha as bedtime stories when I was very small. I didn't understand it, but I loved the sound of the words. (To show the universal appeal of Longfellow, this happened in Australia.)
Your poem's imagery is vivid - I can imagine a warming drink in one hand and a volume of poetry in the other.

Dear writer,
I enjoyed reading your poem. Fifteen words does not leave you much room to write but you managed to nail it. Kudos to you. Best wishes in the challenge.
Blessings,
Darlene

I like and have enjoyed the hard read of this three line poem, I think I could never understand anything about and I fail to make out the concept or theme; I am a poor and weak reader; the poet has written at his self-joy, self-entertainment; thank you for sharing this; well said, post more. Hello author, in fifteen words you created an image. I especially liked:
sipping on aged Longfellow
(I like your play on word, "sipping)
Well chosen artwork. A pleasure to read. As this is a contest entry,
I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Very nice entry. a fifteen word free-verse that I think many readers on the site will find they can relate with. What you've described sounds like the kind of evening a writer/reader would dream about after a long hard day.
Well done.

Oh, you packed volumes in these three lines. Loved the last line.
Fantastic imagery, visuals and presentation. And thank you for introducing me to this new form. Best of luck in the contest.
