Amen! When our time comes to meet the Lord, I can't imagine anything greater. All our pain, sorrow, and grief will be lifted from our shoulders and replaced with an everlasting love.
Always, Carol

This is a perfect Writing Prompt entry. The message is clear, Nick's time has come at last. It would indeed be a nice change for anyone going in heaven. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, indeed! What a lovely write. So short, but so powerful and meaningful. You have met the requirements admirably, so I hope your entry does well in the contest.

Don yourself in the armor of the Lord and you will accomplish great things. Just ask a marine, who seem to me, to be the bravest, tallest, most ferocious combatant on the face of the earth.

I always have a hard time reviewing short shorts. This is one of the best I've read in that it succinctly delivers a complete story and doesn't overdo the faith aspect. Very nice.

At one level this is a story of an old man going to receive his heavenly reward after suffering in his last days on earth. Now why do I think you picked that name Nick on purpose to give an added dimension? Or is it just my suspicious mind?
Good luck in the prompt

Nick was random, but the name made for a good title.

Okay I was overthinking this knowing your tongue in cheek humor

Uhm, not. Not so fast young man. Heaven is not a place of leisure. The Book of Ezekiel and some others show heaven to be a place inhabited by powerful, invisible spirit creatures, who are busy working. Jesus famously said of his father that he continues working and likewise he continues working. So, if you want to got to heaven to rest and relax, you might want to reconsider your intended location.

When it's time to die, we welcome the rest and I remember my Grandma when she was in hospital and she begged us all to let her go and have some peace, it was difficult to see her die, a fine spiritual write Bill, love Dolly x

Nice way to use those three required words in the 21-word story to focus on the transition from this world to the next. I like the peaceful response of realizing that Heaven will be a nice change. Best wishes in the contest!
