Love this story. I am seventy-five also. The greatest number of cats we had at one time was four. If I had died first instead of wife no doubt, she would have the legal limit and maybe some more. If it had a choice between me and the cats, the cats would have won! You get my vote!

A woman with six cats....has a heart the size of the moon! This is the very best kind of prisoner to be, I think! You are in no danger of being purred to death! Love your author's comments. Pretty sure your husband would have appreciated them too!

Great contest entry!

Thank you. When I married my husband he was not a cat lover. It took me a while, but I converted him.

So glad you did! Cats sense it when their humans aren't fully committed!

You are a wonderful caregiver to your beautiful cats. I like your story because you care about pets. Pets are the most loving animals around, unless they turn up stray. Then you cannot get near them.

Thank you. I have tamed some pretty wild ones. All it takes is patience and food.

Nicely written! I have three cats myself and also live in a home that is not maintenance-free. Just me and my kitties...so I could identify. I especially liked the last line; I could identify with that too! I think many people will identify with this story. Best of luck!

I think we need our cats as much as they need us. I'd be lost without mine, and in my case I prefer them to my ex-husband. LOL Good luck in the contest.

Wow!!! You have creativity. But this type of creativity is
kind of scary, when one thinks about it. For, to have
75 animals, simultaneous!!!? I don't know. But I think
it was also your ability to bring and draw your readers
into the story. Nice job. Keep Writing. And don't forget
to stop by to talk to me. Stay Connected

Thank you. I think you read it wrong. I said I was 75 years old and had 6 cats.

and they prompted the audience to "Don't Cry for me Argentina" and the reason is save your tears for the woman from Asperia with six cats and a dog. Very funny.

You got that right, I am an animal lover, so many stray cats grace my property, I also have a dog, the clean up is a bit much but I would not trade their little faces for anything, luv the poem

I am 78 years old and I live with my wife of 40 plus years, we allowed our grand daughter and her family to move in with us until they can find a place. They recently acquired a female cat who promptly gave birth to several kittens. We gave away most of them, but still had three, She has gotten pregnant again and given birth to another litter. This will not end well.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Sounds like you might have to spay that critter. A cat can have two litters a year and they do love to cat around. LOL

The last line of your story is absolutely hilarious! I enjoyed the entire thing. My daughter is a lover of All animals and reptiles other than snakes lol at one time we had 4 lizards, 3 fish, 2 cats (outside) and 3 chihuahuas (still have). She has always aspired to be a vet and she would make a brilliant one.
Anyways, I love your work!
Many blessings to you

Thank you. It sounds like you have your share of critters too. I wanted to be a vet too, but I grew up in the fifties and my father was old fashioned. Dad didn't think girls should be vets so he discouraged it.

We definitely do. I'm sorry to hear that you were discouraged but I know those were different times
