Wow! What a story and from a front row seat. I am impressed can't imagine the character or the will one must have to overcome all of the things your mentor must have had. Likely, a part of his saving grace was that he truly believed God would do just that one more things.
I am impressed with the story and the presentation, It is a 6 on all fronts.
I am hesitant to mention the two tiny spag items: The paper said that a thousand people attended. Delete 'that'. and "Jim if you do this for me, ,, add a comma after Jim.
Wonderfully remembered. Wonderfully written and a joy to read. ann

What a wonderful story. Jim sound like an awesome human being, one who knew what being a human being is all about. If no one is for me, who will be for me? If I am for myself alone, then of what good use am I? This is a paraphrase of a quote I saw on a wall somewhere, I no longer even remember where. It has stuck with me, and I believe it is a very appropriate quote in honor of the very fine individual James C. McCormick.

This is a heart-warming tale. If we are fortunate to meet one like him a life will be blessed. I have known a few, all Saints, and a few of them have gone to where your friend most likely is.
