A family secret has hurt you inside and out. I pray for you to heal. I like your poem because it tells us how you feel. That in itself must be difficult and to write a poem is very trying. But it will also relieve the pain.

Terrificly (sic) terrible story. Were you the orphan or a sibling. Perhaps, they now realize the error of their way. Too late to reverse the damage done here, but what if they repented and await your arrival. Families are meant to be together forever.

This is outstanding and tells the reader so much.
It is a complete story for the reader and flows very nicely
The reader has direct access to some raw emotion here that is presented beautifully. Well done.

You write very emotionally about a deep psychological hurt that has caused wounding to your very sense of identity. The reader becomes caught up in your story and how it has impacted you. For your own sake you must forgive the secrets they kept from you. As they are now dead, you will never know the full story.
On the one hand you had loving parents and a good upbringing, but the fact you knew nothing about a brother until he found you reveals a family secret, one that has caused you distress.
I know something of this feeling. I was adopted and had good adoptive parents but always craved knowing my own background. When I found my birth mother she told various lies to me. I still know nothing about my birth father, but i have found 3 half-sisters. We could have been in each others' lives when we lived in the same city.... but we lost 45 years of not knowing about each other.

I'm sorry for what you've been through. This whole situation is only a few months old, so I'm still processing it. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that they left their infant son with my moms sister( who I also didn't know
about). She told me she only had a brother who was killed in the war. She also said her parents died( another lie). Anyway, thank you for reading.

I can imagine all that new 'news' will need quite a lot of processing as it changes a lot of what makes up your family. All those lies being told is very sad.
In my review I got caught up in your story, but I also meant to bring your attention to a couple of spelling errors in the quote:
and fogivness is devine
should be
and forgiveness is divine

Thank you for those corrections. :)

I can truly understand how devastated the Speaker in this poem must feel to learn about a lost brother his parents ever told him about. I also understand his inability to forgive them, but maybe in time . . . Rod

Not only do you have a new sibling, but much new material to write about. I envy you.

Sometimes it's better not knowing all of their secrets. I love the format and the picture you used. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

What a sad story this is. We all have our secrets and our reasons for those secrets. I have discovered, since my mother's death, several lies. We have to move on. X

You are right of course, it's just that this is so new to me. It's only been 3 months since I found out. Thanks so much for reading my poem.

Hello mystery poet a tremendous Tuesday to you, I hope this finds you well. I liked your Forgiveness Poem contest entry, you executed it well. Forgiveness can be one of the hardest things to give. Good job and good luck in the contest.
