I like the idea of what you are saying, although there is plenty of sociological and scientific evidence to the contrary. Babies look longer at faces that are symmetrical. Children show a general preference for lighter skin colors, and generally form a pecking order based on it, other factors being equal. certainly, animals of higher intelligence are capable of greater cruelty. Why would people be any different, without social conditioning? There is something medieval, terrifying and real in Lord of the Flies; if a specialized virus were to kill off the entire world except for babies, and the babies were somehow to survive, it seems pretty hard to imagine the world turning out to be a better place.

The picture and color you chose are very nice.

Thank you for the review and comments. I think the kids in the Lord of the Flies took their cues from each other, still a learning process. Babies, like animals seem to be born with instinct which quickly fades as they began the learning process. I think they be bond more by touch and feel more than color. Sociologists and scientists keep changing their minds about what they consider evidence.

I love it! I don't know poetry, but I know that I like this.
The words you chose are great, but the message even greater.
It will be nice to get to where people aren't so ugly and mean.
God bless you.

This is so true! Children are not naturally prejudiced - this bad behavior is definitely taught. We need to set the right example ourselves when it comes to tolerance, acceptance and respect. God is not partial and we are created in His image...

You have made excellent use of your seventeen syllables in this thought-provoking, realistic poem. Yes, children are--directly or indirectly--taught how to do wrong. For example, they hear their parents lie, . . .

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the review. I agree and I think they learn for from watching their parents than they do for listening to what they parents tell them they should do.

I know this poem is right on. We keep them innocent until the moment they are taught the woes of the world and the absence of truth. Well done, Beth. Hope you win.

Thank you for a great review. I have a problem saying something meaningful in so few words. Kids probably learn more from watching us than they learn for what we tell them.

Yes, if children didn't learn all their bad habits from all of adults, they would probably not have to go through all the ups and downs that they do. Thanks for sharing.

Wow!!! I love this Haiku. For, it has substance
originality...as well as creativity. And it flowed all
the way through. Each line coinciding with the next.
Moreover, you managed to say a thousand words,
that I definitely agree with. For, children are the only source
of light on earth, in God's eyes. And they are born with
a innocence, Until the very people, who are supposed to protect
their mental psychie ends up snatching that innocence. Keep Writing.
And don't forget to stop by to talk to me. Stay Connected

I thought I had already given a review for this. I love it. The truth shines through with encouragement and a challenge for parents to teach we are all God's children.

Thank you Verna. I so glad you like this. Children learn by what we say but also by what they see us do.
