I love the play on words, it made a sweet romantic story even sweeter.
This was filled with humor from the bad dates to Cheryl and Charlie finally dating.
A romantic story can go overboard with lovey/dovey stuff. This was just perfect.
Best wishes,
Mary

I agree that too much lovey-dovey mush can be off-putting. That's why I generally don't read romance stories - or write them.

What an engaging short story, Lisa. I love the in's and out's of failed dates, but the best was the play on words after the shelves fell and they were cleaning up the mess. Well done Dear. Nancy:)

That's a great story. Your sense of humor shows through in whimsical fun yet shy Charlie. I don't usually review stories as I don't feel qualified to do so. This was a fun read and a happy ending.

I'm glad you enjoyed the humour in my story. Some people hate puns, but I like wordplay so i use them often. It has become a bit of a signature mark in my work.

For reviewing, I think the only qualification you need is to think about what you've written and give an honest opinion of how it affected you - or not - without hurting a sensitive writer's feelings. But they shouldn't put work up for comment if they can't handle another's opinion.

Very romantic!! An unorthodox beginning to a relationship- but why not? Lol. Well written and fun to read. Best wishes for your entry in the contest!

Short and sweet and maybe a bit predictable. Thanks for your review.

Yes, this was very romantic although predictable as I anticipated what was going to happen before it happened. The grocery clerk offers a 'date' while Charlie says I have 'bean' looking for a girl like you is funny yet the part about them rolling on the floor as they step upon a loose can is a little unbelievable and so that makes the whole tale somewhat far fetched though humorous in its own way. I hope my honesty doesn't offend you in any way. But overall this is a pleasant ride through a romantic story of two people who fall in love at first sight.
Thanks for sharing, you always do a good job telling a story.
Jesse

I'm not offended at all. This is derived from something I saw. I actually saw someone trip over a can in a supermarket and pull a girl down with him as he tried to stop falling.
In my story, maybe the young couple 'fell' in love... not at first sight, as it had been building up over a few weeks when they kept seeing each other at the store..

Wow, fact is sometimes stranger than fiction! Thank you for your clarification. It makes more sense now that I know the details.

Aww!! That's so sweet! I like how you build to this couple getting together by first showing us what didn't work with the previous candidates and why Charlie got everything right. I hope you do well in the contest!
