Congratulations on your well deserved contest win. The subject you chose and the clever words you used adequately describes the horrible results of rumors and gossip. It may take weeks, months, or even years before some rumors die, hopefully without too many people being hurt.

Gossip can indeed be malicious and spread like wildfire and cause much harm and is often untrue, you describe the spread of gossip well here, love Dolly x

Gossip is known as a bad rumor. People may lie because they believe the lie is critically important, even though it may seem inconsequential. Other reasons for lying include trying to control a situation or to avoid disappointing someone.

A good entry for this contest, good luck. This is very creative. In a way, you have anthropomorphized gossip and given it a life of its own. Certainly, is hard to argue against your thesis. Good work.

I can really relate to this poem. The biggest challenge in quelling a damaging rumor is in allowing truth to live longer than the rumor. Your poem brought this "thing" to life with strong words, great flow, and powerful truth. I especially like the fact that rumors can be rumors whether they are true or not. It may start as a truth but untruth attaches itself like mold and grows into a bold faced untruth... that too often is still believed to be true. I hope this wins the contest.
