Great piece with nice imagery. One small spag issue: " My life, and
the lives of those
I love and cherish
is worth more" I think that last line should read: "are work more"
Good luck in the contest.

Hello Ann!
Thank you!
And you are correct about the subject/verb agreement = gremlins! :)

I don't have the 6 that this poem so richly deserves! By dramatically and emotionally personifying your paralyzing enemy, you have conveyed a powerful message about breaking FEAR'S hold and reclaiming your joy.

If the birds of the air were caged and they were set free, how would they feel? Would you be glad that their gone or perhaps want them to return to sing their song? I know you are speaking about your own feelings, but I am using the birds for an example.

Hi Rosemary,
I used the caged bird artwork to symbolize no longer feeling caged in by fear...
Thank you!

If there is faith, there is no fear!

The author's words are descriptive, thought provoking, interesting,
heartfelt and creative. I pondered on these words. I really liked the
last stanza which shows courage and kindness to self. The poem flows
and connects well. The artwork symbolizes freedom to me! Great Poem!

Whatever it was, I wish you would have ended telling it. Evil thoughts? Let me know. Did I miss something?..................................................................................

Hello,
Yes... you missed it.
I tell the reader exactly what "it" is...
-
Fear? and I thought it was a dalliance.

Fear...

Yes fear can be such a powerful foe for us humans, often present in our lives without our fully realising - it can cripple our actions and activities - this poem delineates it well

This is an excellent poem for the contest,
quite different from the other entries
in that it deal with fear until the last line .
The poem flows down the page quickly
turns at the mention of "fear."
Nicely done.
Good luck in the contest.

I can relate to this writing as fear once had a grip on my mind. Why? I don't know. There was really nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear is paralyzing and can numb one's mind if not controlled. I love this poem. I wish you tons of luck in the contest.
