I think because the police are aware that folk are allowed to be armed and that police are only human and some may not want to take a chance, after all, they are human too. But if guns weren't allowed perhaps it may be different. This is beautifully written my friend, I like your thinking my friend, well done, blessings Roy

This is very creative. I can imagine that some police interviews DO go like this--with a series of questions that go from logical to bizarre! In some places you have a question mark in the middle of a question--a bit distracting.

I'll check out the question marks. I don't think I saw it on mine but idk for sure.

You mean at the end of most lines? That was intended. They are separate questions. I had hope the reader would be the suspect and answer them in their minds as it went along.

I should have been more specific. Here are examples of questions with the mark in the middle:
    Have I any questions?
    About your confession?

Instead of a question mark after ?questions,? you could use a dash.

    Did you approach the band?
Or went directly to the man?

The question mark after ?band? interrupts your question. Also, ?went? should be ?go.?

I enjoyed reading your poem. You did a great job with the prompt. I liked the rhymes and the pace works well too. Your photo is perfect. I haven't read a poem constructed in this way before, it pretty interesting.

Cool. I have historically been the oddball. Many of my writings indicate the kid I was remains.

So, you think there should be an addendum? It has been mentionoed it was a one-way conversation and since I initiated a thought that it is because the reader was to be answering the questions. An afterthought, tho it may be.

This is a very interesting entry for the Question writing prompt. As it is a one-sided monologue, your poem asks all the appropriate questions, but most answers are left to the perception of the readers. Magnificent!

Perhaps, so the readers can consider answers of their own? I never wanted it to be too long, and the challenge of the suspect answering while rhyming may have complicated the story. Point taken and appreciated.

This was not a criticism! I tried to say it was a magnificent choice. Change nothing!

Good flow and rhythm, and a good picture to set the mood.
Appears this was a "No Good Reason" shooting, following the latest trend.
From the rap music I've heard, it is enough to make people hallucinate and possibly want to harm someone else.
However, guess it wasn't enough for the perp to just shoot the band member once, he had to shoot him again, for good measure.
Good work,
irish

Left to the discretion of the readers to answer in their heads??? idk.
Could that work? I really like the keep my pieces to one written page.
Do you think it would have improved the piece?
