This was so enjoyable to read. The rhyming was great. Very well written. The word in your poem flowed smoothly together as I was reading it. The illustration went well with your poem. Thank you for sharing.

This is very nice. You gave the spiritual a wider more secular feel with this rhyming story. I see why it almost took first place. The structure is very sound and the story is appealing. Good work.

Well done! A great story told in rhyme. A melody is almost heard. This is such a beautiful way to express the King's message. Being all things to all men. Thanks for a clear description of The King's treasure and the path to finding it. I really enjoyed reading it.

Hi Sharon,
This poem flows well and its rhymes are unforced. It tells of the peace and love that the stories in the Bible bring us. He really took the thing that had the most value and protected for other to find.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Joan

Fabulous! I'm glad that I found this while still holding sixes. Great work.
I love the flow, the imagery, the rhyming and the story line.
The cadence sounded natural, if (and?) Old Worldly.
Best wishes.

Hello ~
I have no idea why you didn't win the rhyming poem contest. I liked the winning poem but this... Such a rich weave of poetry, faith, and storytelling! Very well done.
I'm publishing a Christian anthology in the next few months. I'd love it if you'd submit it. The details are in both my portfolio and my profile. Contact me if you're interested.
Again - great job on this. Congratulations on your second-place win.
Deb

Thank you so much for this exceptional review! It really made my day. I would very much be interested in submitting it to your anthology. Could you please send me more details on where and how to submit it? I am also interested in submitting to your children's anthology. Has the deadline passed? :)

Hi Boo (Is that an appropriate shortening of Boogie? lol) ~
I extended the deadline until 3/12 because we haven't had enough submissions. That's what I was doing in the contest area -hoping to find a children's poem or story contest. But I found you, so that's okay! ;)
You can find details for the kid's anthology in my portfolio. I think it might be 2-3 posts down, but not far. The briefest of info is to write for kids under 12 or 13. Stories should be no more than about 2500 words and you can submit stories, poems, recipes, activities, or scripts. You may submit up to 4. Or 5. I don't remember right now, but no more than that. I'll need a bio written in 3rd person. Look online for samples of writer's bios if you're not sure what it should look like. Email submissions to me at DeboraDyess@gmail. I run a VERY small publishing house out of my home and will cut checks twice a year. They will be the total royalty from Amazon divided by the number of stories and then multiplied by the number you submit. (Royalty/submissions x your submissions). You are asked to help market. If you have published works, you can include that in your bio as a way to drive traffic to those works, as well. Hmm... That seems very disorganized and convoluted but I'm headed for the skatepark with my granddaughter. :)
Have a great day! Hope to hear from you soon. Oh -- share this info with your writing friends, writing group, your Goodreads page, etc. I'd like to have 40-50 stories and we're not close yet. :)
    Thanks again,
    Blessings,
    Deb

Be by a King degree I see the words have entered many hearts, author. Your words ring wise "They would destroy the book if found, so hid it, he did, in the ground." That has happened always in history. The words of those of the past are destroyed and we learn nothing of what happened or what was. Yet, the Bible survived. :) Thank you for sharing.

Excellent entry for the Rhyming writing prompt contest. The rhymes do not seem forced and your poem flows well. It draws upon emotions and it presents strong images.

Good luck in the contest.

Kings are considered the head of the state. When I was reading this, I was thinking of Queen Elizabeth and when she steps down who will be the King, William?

I believe he is the next in line for the throne. I've read that the Queen has contracted covid, I hope she will be ok. Thanks for reading my poem.

Well done on this account of an ancient kings story. What a brave soul this mighty man was. And how he coveted his hefty tome.
Great rhyming throughout and great story too.
