I relate to this. Biscuits and gravy. Cornbread and milk. Beautiful quilts made by Grandma. Buttermilk sitting around the pot-bellied stove. Towels from flour sacks with handmade embroidery. Home made curtains. Oh, yes, I relate. Thank you for the wonderful moments, remembering the great times in my life.

How true this is but I don't see why dripping was written singularly. I feel an added ess would be more fine. 'drippings' ................................................................................

Yes, this is an excellent entry for the - Two Line Poem - contest.
I think this is a winner. Not sure what I'm going to enter now, if at all. The brevity of this piece states so much. Perfect internal and end rhyme and love the photo. I can't help but shower you with a six. :-) ~DD

This two-line essence poem, Love Always Fulfilled, has the proper formatting and sends us back to those days when our moms did it all. They still do it all, but few still make their clothes. Neat poem.

I am glad you have shared a bit of your upbringing. There are so many memories in our lives...some good and some not so good. You have expressed yourself well in this Two Line poetry entry. Best wishes!

You have captured those times (the fifties, and probably late forties) with your two line poem. Absolutely brought back so many memories. Best wishes for your entry.

My Mother was from Lancashire and they would live on bread and dripping. My Mother, however would not have lard in the house! She never fried anything on her stove and it was spotless, everyone had to be boiled! Your words made me smile, it is as if my Mother said them, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

-Nice artwork and presentation, kahpot.
-Thanks for sharing the notes.
-You wrote a good poem with a good topic.
-The syllable count is good, along with the rhyme.
-I like how you tell a story with a few words,
showing how you were raised and what
your mother did for the family.
-A good entry; good luck.

You are welcome, kahpot, and I agree. I never realized the extent of what my parents had done until I was an adult. You are very welcome for the review.

Sustenance and covering - supplied with love. What more do we need? Simple things that cocoon us with love as we were growing up. Kids today do not appreciate these simpler things - a generation that demands much more than what they need. I fear for them.
