It's been a long time, since I've read your poetry. And when I read this, I was kicking myself in the @$#
For not checking for you sooner. For, this was that pure poetry. And the beginning just grabs the reader, making him think... "Is she talking about me:)" Anyway, you did an amazing job. Keep Writing. And stay connnted

Hello K.
Your words in this poem flow with deftness and the irregular meter slows the reader down in order to savor the words. This is a beautiful poem with a strong emotional message. It is really well done.

Every now and then I read something of e.e. cummings and my muses are suddenly on active duty! SO glad you enjoyed this one!

Your poem is beautiful, a joy to read. These lines stood out to me:
"Ten thousand beaches and here I have been cast!
"Had you turned to gaze out to sea
I would not have known
the beauty of your touch.
One sidestep left or right,
and unrelenting waves
would have tumbled me
back to churning depths,
salty as tears."
What treasure we would have missed by a single decision.

This is faith... Toknow in our hearts God will place us in the right place at the right time... No matter how improbable, when love is ours, God will find a way! Thank you and many blessings!

This is a beautiful poem written as a letter to one who finds a special
someone gifted as an amethyst sea glass. Your words make the amethyst
become real as it rests with glorious abandon made precious by human
touch. Great writing!

-Very nice image and presentation, Karenina.
-I love the cummings quote, too.
-A well written poem with the sea glass as
a symbol for that quote, for love lost and love gained.
-As you say in such eloquent words, it's all how
we happen to see things: "Had you turned to gaze out to sea..."
"One sidestep left or right..."
-Beautiful imagery describing the amethyst glass.
-Because he caressed it, it make all the difference.
-A lovely poem; thanks for sharing it.

Whether spiritually, or romantically, we are healed by touch. We are never so lost that we can't be found! I collect sea glass--amethyst being the rarest color to find. Hence, the inspiration! Thanks so much for reading!

You are welcome, Karenina, and thanks for sharing. Do you have a certain place where you collect it?
-
I find most of it on the rocky coast of Maine...
But beaches in Rhode Island, Mass. and NH also...
It's getting scarcer...or my eyesight is getting worse!
Still, there's this cove near Kennebunkport. Maine where I always hit the mother lode!
(smile)
-
You must do a lot of traveling!
-
All of these east coast beaches are anywhere from 45 minutes to a three hour drive from my home... I'm very lucky!
-
That is very fortunate.

As with every poem ever written, they tend to mean different things to everyone who reads them. Inner meanings just waiting to be shared or deepest secrets not meant for the masses. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

This is the beauty of writing, Ric. Somewhere between the drying ink and the reading, there is a rendering of personal perspective ~different for every writer and reader. I've never once allowed a professor to inform me my interpretation of a poem was not the truest meaning.
Of course, it is!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Oh, Karenina, my friend, I wish I had a dozen sixes for this. It is so lovely. It could be finding a true love by pure happenstance, or simply joy in finding the sea glass where it had been tossed after so long in the ocean. Either way, it is truly magnificent!

Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
AWESOME! Your poem is, Karenina. Your words flow smoothly with great emotion. It isn't only about finding a piece of sea glass, but finding something touched by God after being discarded. That could be finding love of another person--just being in the right place at the right time as God leads you to him/her. I've read about sea glass, but have never seen a piece for real--kinda hard to find in the almost desert where I live. However, your poem reminds me the beauty of sea glass. I liked the part where you picked it up and gently wiped the sand off and put it in your pocket, just like one would do with a person except you would put him/her in your heart to love. You would wipe away the hurt, kiss him/her and walk together.
Respectfully, Jan

There is nothing so satisfying to a writer than to see their layers of intent reflected back to them through the perspective of a respected artist such as yourself. Should you ever wish for sea glass, let me know. I have decanters full of them! Thank you for the six... moreover, for your words!
