This is a beautiful account of what must be going through so many children's minds in Ukraine. All because a little man wants to feel superior, so he destroys a country that he sees is thriving and happy without needing him. After I saw the NYT picture of the family dead that was hit with a mortar, I want the whole world to remove him. No one wants war except for a deranged person, but if he could be stopped like Hitler, the world could be a better place. Thank you for sharing.

This is well written, descriptive and articulated. Now, saying all that, I have to add this. It is too much for a young child's point of view, unless that child is amazingly gifted. If that's so, I recommend finding a way to add that in.

Thanks for reviewing. If you think the child needs to be amazingly gifted to voice these experiences, then the story indicates it. She is clearly well read through going to the library. Readers can draw their own conclusions, just as you did.

This piece was very dramatic. I felt so much pain and confusion as did the child telling the story. The heartbreak of this piece hits more as this is the world we live in. We are doomed to repeat our history unless some miracle happens.
