This is an excellent satire on Putin. I especially like the line about the operation on the maternity hospital being a "motherly success". Excellent use of words to satirize a monster, creative and clever.

I tend to agree with this contest entry. We have no clue what's really going on in Ukraine because all we ever get is propaganda. We may never know for sure. Thank you for sharing this with us and good luck with the contest.

Not sure if Satire fits well for this period of madness, as my mixed feelings when reading, yet, ludicrous it points to, and ludicrous it is. I wonder what else one can make of all of this. It is difficult to smile at such a time, given the facts. Still, satire it is. This might have brought a smile at some other period in time, but right now, your well written piece, in respect of the form, the only solace.

You are right of course, but the only way to protest Mr. Putin through this contest was dripping sarcasm. I would be happy to light a fuse to the large firecracker up Mr. Putin's putie! Thank you for reading.

Either very sharp satire or a reflection of the delusion of altered reality Putin is spoon feeding his minions either way a testament to how distortion becomes truth in a vacuum.

Karenina, you are the first to "get" that I did not mention God directly in the story, because he thinks he is God. That was a part of satire or maybe sarcasm I was going for in the title, good job. I would be happy to light a giant firecracker firmly planted in the putie of Mr. Putin.

I think you did the satire believably well. I liked how you listed the very companies that are no longer doing business with Russia now. This was exactly how the Soviet Union operated changing the news to propaganda.
In "oppressive bonds of democracy," I might even change that to "facism" as Putin claims to be liberating Ukraine from nazism even as he bombed the Holocaust Memorial and Zelensky is Jewish!

A very cutting satire. The only missing theme is that of redirection. As in "That situation is regretable ...look squirrel."
The language is slightly overblown as one might expect from a dictatorial type. The flow is good. The tongue in cheek approach is amusing.
