The best place to start a relaxing evening skimming through someones portfolio is at the beginning. You made this sound very creepy, although I am sure he was protecting you.

It is interesting to see how far your poetry works have come, my friend! 'm glad Covid did not get you!

    Douglas, I'm getting there slow but sure, but how funny you would look at my first poem here. I can see why my words at first would alarm you. LOL. Actually my husband is very overprotective and he does drive me crazy. However, he is always right, that with my health of having lupus, during covid was a hard time. He used to even get upset if one of the kids were within six feet outside if the wind was blowing towards me. With no immune system to speak of it was very hard for me to be so careful. Yeah, and would have helped if I was a little more shy, you know. LOL ... So me staying away from people was disastrous. I am not only a chatterbox, I am a big hugger too, so this was killing me. Anyway, thank God it is so much better now.

I'm remembering those covid isolation days and hating b the thought it's 2023 and a new variant is spreading!

I think many people thought they were being held hostage when the pandemic was in full bloom. Thank God for the leaders that help get this under control.

Your poem flows nicely.. The rhymes don't seem forced. The structure makes sense. It drew on my emotions. It presents strong images. I would recommend.

This is a different take on the meaning of hostage. I guess covid did make prisoners of a lot of people. I hope it is over now but it doesn't sound too promising on the news. I with you the best of luck in the contest.

Your contest entry reads well, I enjoyed reading it. Your lines are smooth flowing, the rhymes work, and your message is clear. Based on your notes, there seems to be an underlying theme of distrust. Yes, it is serious.

This was a well written poem. Your poem reads and flows well. Covid held you hostage, that is a good story. Your rhyming scheme is consistent throughout the poem. Very nice poem.
