Thanks!
Emily sparked a love of poetry in me when I was eleven years old...
Little did I know as a child growing up in Rochester, NY, that in my golden years, still writing, I would live just miles from Emily's grave.
And God smiles...

You have used many literary techniques. You have a plethora of examples of allusions. It has a voice of ancient times. There are metaphors with animation and personification. My story I'm writing right now is dealing with past lives in the 15th century. Yours is much more magical. Very nice.

Thanks Liz. I need to set aside blocks of time to read all your chapters in order! It will happen...maybe next week!

Hello Karenina,
Remarkable flight of imagination keeping feet on the solid ground!
Impressive phraseology; smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting its theme.
Picture enhances depth and beauty of the poem.

And here we are! What a lovely way to end this ethereal poem about Emily Dickinson and her tombstone that beckons us, poets, to dwell in possibilities.
I have just had Cataract Surgery so I can't go on longer but I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you and all your accomplishments so far!
Take care, my friend!

All I can ask is that you keep rooting for my recovery as the effects haven't worn off yet from the surgery.
Thanks, my friend!

And I will continue to root! Be well! Rest! Heal! --

This was beautifully done, Karenina. The picture of Emily Dickinson's grave stone was priceless. Your words captured the essence of Emily and held her words, her thoughts and all because she was 'called back'. Very well done and greatly enjoyed.

Thanks so much! She's my favorite poet, and who knew my life's path would bring me to live within twenty minutes of her resting place? I love visiting...and her grave is often laden with single roses, while often there are folded up poems weighed down with small rocks, left on top of her gravestone. I appreciate your comments!--

Wow, that close, Karenina, that is truly amazing. You are so very welcome.

Karenina,
How do you find these elegant words!!? The whole poem sings soft and devotedly. This poetic vision held me/holds me still:
"...You dipped your head to kiss me,
slipped Saturn's ring upon my finger;
Unspoken vows upon your breath,
celestial wedding band...."
The sweep from Orion to Saturn to Aurora Borealis to God is so easily and gratefully traveled by this reader. I am so impressed with your gifts to us. Thank you.

-Very nice image and presentation, Karenina.
-A lovely tribute to Emily Dickinson and her work.
-The imagery seems effortless and flows down the page.
-"Our spirits flew through galaxies" reminds me of a mythical adventure
as you also "chased love and myth" with Orion.
-I think that the pull of the gravestone and your love of her writing took you and an unknown person on an adventure of a lifetime.
-Perhaps it was her gift to you, as you floated through the cosmos
and then returned when you were "called back."
-Very creative and well written. Emily would be pleased.

It'd be a thrill to know Emily was pleased. Lord knows she's pleased me with her work since I was eleven! I had brilliant help from a fellow poet with the "chased love and myth" line...
Thanks!

Those blessed with poetic hearts, minds and spirits, are most often not of this world. They are loaned to normal folk so that they may through their efforts, soften the harder edges that prevent the others from harming themselves as they bump against the harder edges, developed by the cost of everyday living. As dear Emily was recalled, the world was blessed with her replacement. Prayerfully, this will be a recurring process.

I only wish sweet Emily had known success in her lifetime. Not so much fame, as I do not think that was her motivation. I think your observation is the truer one. Sadly, it wasn't until after she was "Called Back" that her sister, Lavinia, gathered all of Emily's poetry and pursued a publisher who brought her words to the world. Aren't we blessed? Thanks, Karenina

I bet you do!
I do it informally, to children in Battered Women's Shelters...
It's amazing to see their little eyes light up!
They are NOT nobody!
Smile.

Thanks for the kind words and these lovely stars! I received my first Dickinson Anthology at age eleven and her "I'm Nobody" spoke to my heart. I've been writing ever since...
