This is beautiful, the gold is in your writing. Excellent thoughts with the inspiration of Emily Dickinson. I love the spirits flying through the galaxies, chasing love and myth. A poetic journey. Great reference to Emily Dickson's tombstone "Called back." Ths deserves a six, and I'm fresh out. judi

I love all the astrological references in this lovely poem! I'm a fan of the stars, and since I went blind and cannot see them anymore, my next favorite thing to do is write about them... and read about them!
Thank you for sharing this! I am visualizing Orion dashing across the sky. Hugs.

What a lovely review...
The stars live now behind your eyes...
And Emily would love you!
Thank you!

Karen, this gave me chills. This was so ethereally beautiful, the stuff that dreams are made of.
I am sure, Emily is smiling now.
These struck me above others:
You dipped your head to kiss me,
slipped Saturn's ring upon my finger;
Unspoken vows upon your breath,
celestial wedding band.
Beautiful, Karen! Emily heard you.

I do believe she looks over the shoulder of every poet!
You should see her grave!
Single roses left at her feet...many poems folded up like classroom notes and anchored with small rocks along the top of her gravestone.
To think she never knew fame before her death!
God Bless her sister, Lavinia, for gathering Emily's work and championing it to publishers.
Can you imagine, we might never have know the beauty of her work?
I'll tell her all about your six stars!
Thank you!

But I, personally, don't get her poetry. I guess, it's an individual thing. To me, you are a much better poet.

Oh, my dear Karenina. You always keep amazing me.
The final stanza of this glorious poem is reason enough to place you in the pantheon of FanStory's Best Poets.
"Called Back"
etched on her gravestone;
so we were,
and here we are...

Bless your dear heart, Jay...
Of not for the gift of an anthology of her poems at age eleven I might never have taken up a pen!
She forever inspires me!
Thanks so much!

A stunning beautiful poem. I had no idea that Called Back was on her tombstone. That is very cool. I have a copy of my father's English textbook from his high school he used in 1936. Hand-written notes in the textbook around Emily's poem, that declared her his favorite. My father was a poet.

Emily wrote incessantly... On envelopes, the back of grocery lists, in handsewn little booklets.
Seems impossible her work was barely noticed in her lifetime!
Only a handful of poems published, and most of those in the Springfield, MA newspaper...
Her sister, Lavinia gathered her work, after her death,
and amassed a slew of rejection slips...
Emily really was "Nobody"-- in poetry, until a publisher dared to take her unconventional style and publish it.
When she was " Called Back"--she knew nothing of fame, nor her impact on the world...
Your father was a poet with exquisite taste!
When I visit her grave it's magical...
Single roses laid upom the grass ringing her gravestone... Dozens of poems folded up and weighted down by small rocks along the top of her gravestone...
If ever you come to New England I'd love to take you to see her!
Thank you for these stars...
She'll love them!

What a lovely poem, I wrote something like that in my last post, it's hope that keeps us going, I've been having "darkish" thoughts of late, nothing I can't deal with, but feeling reclusive, not that it affects my writing, thats the outlet, it enables one to be in touch with your real essence, that's why you've written this, and I'm sorry I thought ill of you Karen, it wasn't me, this is superbly written, blessings Roy

It is hope... and faith... and the durability of friendship and kindred souls. I've felt your darkish thoughts... my hand is always on your back poet! Thanks so much for this lovely review and the sixes!
Blessings back!

This is another fine poem, penned by your skilled hand, to add to your collection. I find it an exceedingly fitting tribute to your favourite poet. Way to go!

Wow, this poem is fantastic! I love the descriptive details, and it's got a good flow to it. Emily Dickinson has been one of my favorite poets for a long time. I'm sure she'd be proud of this work.

She was and is my all-time favorite poet. It is her work I first read at eleven--which brought me to begin journals and journals of poetry (or my attempt at it, anyway!) I didn't know then I'd end up living twenty minutes from Amherst... How blessed am I?
Thanks for the six! I'll pass them to the Belle of Amherst!

I keep going back to check because this poem should be a contest entry but I don't see any indication that it is. It should be. LOL It's really good. Thank you for sharing. Emily Dickinson was one of the great.

Darn it, I never think of contests when the muse stirs me! Thanks for thinking it should be though! I'll tell Emily on my next visit...
Come to New England and visit with me!
Thanks,

This is a beautiful piece. The imagery is very otherworldly and ethereal. There's a wistfulness in the words. It also provides an interesting glimpse into a beautiful moment in life.

To visit Emily is an inspiring event... I go to see her twice a month.
She was the very first poet I ever read, at age eleven. I haven't stopped trying to write, since!
Thanks!
