I really liked this interview and it was very interesting. I really love RGstar's work and I think he knows it. Now a lot can be learnt from this, and although it's about poetry only, I.think a lot can be applied to prose also. Thanks for sharing with us. Ulla:)))

I guess this is information to have but what I see my written poetry being is a way to capture a passing thought or reliving a past memory in journal form. Many friends and relatives have found my composing interesting, uplifting and humorous encouraging me to publish but my ingenuity ends in the writing. FanStory has been a way to see if outside my world people find my work interesting. Seemingly, the answer is yes.

Tom, I think the answer is a defiant yes! RG is a gifted poet, but as he says at the conclusion of this session, there are many ways, and you have one of them. Terry.

Ah! I promised a six and I offer it here with respect for your entire series of interviews, which I quickly am placing in my bookcase, so to feast upon time and again.

I heartily agree that any who may not have taken the time to I listen to RG recite his poems owe it to themselves to immerse themselves in his voice, his phrasing...

This adds a dimension so stunning I often sit quietly, in awe...

Good writing is like good tea, it needs to "steep" awhile.

So it is with poetry...

A line may come as quickly as the dawn...
yet I have found, as RG said, to write a bit and pause gives fresh perspective, every time.

Congrats to you for this wonderful project...
Congrats to Helen, Jay and RG for their gracious time and wisdom!

Thank you again, Terry, for doing this. Thanks to RG for his eloquent exposition of the whole writing process. It's so true we need to let the writing breathe to edit with fresh eyes. Also, it was wonderful to learn about his theatre experience. So good of you to ask him about his reading aloud with his gorgeous voice!

This is a great write! The insight given is priceless. Learning to find my voice on the page is interesting and exciting. I think the suggestions should be taken to heart and tried. Especially letting your work breathe. Thanks for conducting the interviews.

I said this would be a sixth star, not for my input, for I do that with pleasure, but for the organiser. A good series all the way around.
Well done Terry.
Pleasure working with you.
Have a splendid week. Six was the least I could give you.
Best wishes.
RG

This was a very informative interview. The advice that stood out to me was "put it away." I think that piece of advice will help me with my poetry. I have enjoyed reading these interviews.

You are a good monitor, Terry. Your questions give those being interviewed a lot of leeway in their approach. I believe this part will be over the head of many writers--esp beginning poets. However, there are some easier to understand parts in each section.
Respectfully, Jan

RG is a humble man of great powers. Nowhere, with the exception of his poetry, is this seen with such clarity and acuity. RG is a rare person. I hope readers don't just take the time to read this, but to take notes on it, to apply its instruction in their own writing, and then to not forget its source.

If there is any one of you who has not listened to the audio clips of his poems, read in his rich baritone voice, go to his portfolio now. Be prepared to be moved and awed! Then take a moment to thank him for all he has given this site which he loves so.

Well said, Jay, RG has that voice of God thing going for him. Read the reviews of this Part V. Your friend Bill Shott shows up and reviews all five parts. Terry.

He's a good man. He has some real challenges with his wife's recent ill health.
