-I can see why you won the contest, Debi.
An excellent entry, with a good image and presentation.
-Your poem is very well written and flows smoothly
with effective imagery and rhyme.
-A very good introductory verse and follow up
about moving in with his parents.
-I like how you use the theme of 'blink'
and something else happens in your life.
-Babies grow up, get married, and then you're a grandma.
-I like your lines about your parents and I can relate to
that when I realized I started looking like my mother,
not that it's a bad thing, but it emphasizes your age!
-A very good concluding verse. A great job!!

Girl! This is so true! Time is such a trickster...
My favorite lines were 'life won't let us rehearse' and those last two. 'PLEASE wait a little longer, Lord, before another blink!" spot on, friend!
Love it, loved it, loved it! I'm sending it to my sister! She'll love it, too.
Blessings, dear friend,
Deb

Hi Brenda, I thank you so much for all the kind words and special things you said about my older poem. I love how this seems to resonate with so many, as I always thought that time would never move that fast until the older I got, the faster they were moving. Funny how that works. LOL

Thanks again my friend. Lotsa love, Debi

Time really does fly by, doesn't it? In the blink of an eye suggests a series of snapshots in the family album. I had to smile at that last line: Please wait a little longer, Lord
Before another Blink!

That is great. I especially like the idea and a blink and a magical shift in time which culminates in your plea to let you wait before the next. I enjoyed that metaphor, thank you for sharing.

man, tears. My baby gradutes hs next month. I get what your saying. When my oldest was born, I lost mom 2 months beforehand. The last 24 years I've lived with my kids to help me through not having her, now that my kids are leaving, I'm struggling a little bit. This was good.

I like this poem. It reminds me a bit in tone of the song "Sunrise, Sunset" from "Fiddler on the Roof." Here are some lines that resonate with me:
I'm soon the age my parents were
When thinking they're extinct
Lately I've been thinking I'm not really my parents' age -- it's someone else's age!
Such a great concluding stanza:
So with the changes in my life
There's wisdom when I think
Please wait a little longer, Lord
Before another Blink!
