This is beautiful Janet. The theme, the word choices, the rhymes and the even, unblemished meter all work together to create a beautiful poem. I loved the whole thing, but especially the last lines... "As night arrives with soft laments/I look into your loving eyes. /I feel the warmth of your embrace-- /and know where my contentment lies." An absolutely perfect ending. Good luck in the contest. I think this will be among the winners. MM

This was a lovely poem that is well constructed and keeps to a consistent rhyme and meter. I love the imagery and descriptions of the nature and how it relates to your contentment with the other person. Or maybe the person is the scene personified?

Thank you RB for your kind and thoughtful review. At first is was the scene that I thought about for my contentment but then I realized, maybe it was the person that I shared it with that brought the contentment. I guess it works either way. :)))

The busy world makes such places more and more rare, sadly. The poem deserves a better title; "A Place of Contentment" has functionality, but lacks cachet. Maybe something like "Lush Verdant Moss" would be more tactile and redolent. ( a small note: it's o'er, not o're.)
