Is there the expectation of a reunion, and renewal of the relationship, or the fear that the other person will never return? We even wonder if there is despair. The reader can find a great deal in this poem.

What a great tanka, Gypsy. Definitely a beautiful picture of a sunset on a lake. I agree that nothing sounds more lonesome that a loon, especially if it is calling for it's mate. Blessed be n hugs!

A sad poem of lost love beautifully presented. The mournful sound of the loon brings sadness and thoughts of love lost.
Brilliant and poignant with an artist eye on presentation.
Best wishes,
Mary

I like your poem - a very nice presentation - interesting Tanka poem - showing separation of ideas - one outside your window and one at a distance - Bird sounds at a distance, and yearning at a distance = one near one far. I struggled with the word 'rides' trying to find a word to more closely in tune with serenade - okay of course, but your meaning wasn't quite clear to me. Good job.

This poem is so sad and very romantic for your lost love. I really like the words "Serenade" and "yearning". The last line just nailed the emotion.

Exceptionally done.

A beautifully written and composed piece Gypsy. It's a very reflective and sentimental offering, the sensitive wording gives it character and charm, well done, beautifully Roy

The sound of loons does sound "mournful" and so there's comfort in their mournful songs that the narrator hears because she's grieving the beloved whom she's yearning for.
