I'm with you. . . really am NOT enjoying the Golden Years and not being able to participate in life. But when I look around, I'm also grateful for the blessing of good health, even if my knees won't cooperate and my energy gives out. I'm still happy to be hanging around. At least we can write about it! :)

This was such an interesting contest prompt and you've written it as an outsider looking in, jealous that you can't be a part of what you see. I understand that your arthritis is holding you back, but I wonder if jealousy isn't the real culprit.
By the way, those 5K's always need volunteers - be part of it in some way.

The only ill will that is happening here is the harm done to yourself, by being eaten up inside and swallowing bitter pills. But I certainly understand the frustration of being trapped in an aging body and being resentful of others' ability to scamper about freely. You have expressed the emotion of jealousy very clearly and creatively.
