Well written. Good work.
And yes, very typical, except for the 'gonna tell dad' part. My mother wouldn't hesitate to lay me over her knee.
"It's one of the things Mom taught me; to use logic to make my point. - semicolon should have a complete sentence on both sides.
Best wishes.

Thank you. I told Grammarly semi-colon, and Grammarly said comma. So, who's right? My Mom would'nt heistate to whale our hind ends eithter. Just used it for the story. Hugs.

Cute story. I love the simple way children look at things and this dialogue illustrates that beautifully. From the. Mouths of babes. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Haha silly little monkeys. This is very cute and really funny. I don't know what 'it' is- she will soon by the sounds of it!

I think I thought this but I didn't really have that conversation exactly with my siblings. Thanks for sharing this

prettybluebirds, what a great study in concrete thinking. This is so accurate regarding the way children think and interpret what we mean as they learn all the crazy idioms English has to offer. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the contest!

Tahnk you. It wasn't hard at all because I came from a family of seven brothers and four sisters. Conversations like this were quite common. Hugs

What a cute story. I can relate to this story so much. Mom's do rat and rave sometimes when we want to get things done. The last line about liking the daughter better than the son, makes me think how a person can relate to what's being said when being spoken to.....

This is sensational! It is clever and refreshing. It speaks of relatable phrases we have all heard growing up. You gave them a humorous twist. I'm still laughing! Poor child, lol.

A great dialogue only story. Liked especially the humor! I would have wished for actual quotes from Mom as part of the dialogue..... I can just imagine the face and inflections of the kid mimicking his mom. Good luck in the contest.

Bravo, my friend!

I haven't laughed in so many days and your story accomplished it in so many ways. I could definitely see the conversation taking place between siblings and the "misinterpretations" of a child when an adult speaks.

Thanks for sharing. It was great!

Hugs, Carol

I enjoyed this story, as I can relate. I have 3 siblings,an older brother, older and younger sister. Being in between my sisters led me to be the one who used that line often. Your descriptive writing is very effective,

A very clever piece, and I can just see siblings having that conversation. It's a great entry for the dialogue only contest because it sounds so natural and so humorous. Well written, and best wishes.
