that was simple and sweet. it said a lot in a few words. I enjoyed reading it and feeling it. good idea, well thought out in a few words. and it truly said what Earl and Mabel felt for each other.

Seems she has made herself, and her desires, well known.

What a choice he has, remarry and find happiness or be haunted forever.

Hand-counted fifty words so meets that requirement of the contest.

Haha! What a fun and funny little bit of writing. I've considered throwing my hat in for a 50 word limit story but wasn't sure what I could write that would make a story. And here you are, presenting a master class in just that. Loved this.

Hahaha! There's a lot going on in this story. You used the caption in the picture wisely by letting the reader know the couple is in their golden years. The couple is old enough to talk about death. Then the suspense begins to build. Will Earl consider remarrying? The final punch line is hilarious. I wish you the best in the contest.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It was a fun story to write. My husband and I used to joke about things like this. So far, he hasn't come back to haunt me. Lol. Hugs.

Fun, humorous, and each word counts. I can't think of 50 words that could make a better story. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you in the contest.

Thank you for reading and the six stars. It was a fun story to write. So far, my husband hasn't come back to haunt me. Than again, I have never remarried so who knows? Lol. Hugs.

I guess we know what Mabel really wants:-) I like the story, and I like that it's told in dialogue only. I am a little confused by the illustration - did the picture just happen to include the words about the retired couples, or did you add the words to give a background to your characters?
Anyway, well done.

Thank you. I added that picture because I liked the message with it. The words were already on the photo. Hugs

Very cute story with a great punchline at the end. The prospect of a an angry haunting ghost would discourage any notions of remarriage. LOL. Enjoyed much. Thanks for sharing.

An interesting story. I loved the humorous tone of the story. I love stories that make me smile/ laugh. Very well written given the constraints of the word count.
With regards

This fifty-word story, Forever After, has the required word count and should give Earl enough of a hint as to how to answer an obviously loaded question.
