Cute story, well told. Kids are so literal in interpreting the things they've heard others use in conversation.

This is a very amusing anecdote. It is just the right length that you could sell to a mother's magazine, Reader's Digest (if still being published) or Country Women. Best of luck in the writing contest.

Great entry for this contest. It is amazing how children interpret words to mean something entirely different from what we meant them. To this little one, a treasure means something buried, so it was not comforting for his mother to call him that.
