This story reminds simply reminds me of my childhood, when we discovered a hornets' nest in our garden :)
The description of bees is very clear and helps the reader imagine these "little stingers".

Thank you. These were not hornets, they were a breed of honey bees. I don't know why they were so aggressive. Nobody was safe. I was not exaggerating when I told how bad it was. Hugs

If they stung that much they needed to be smoked.
Does not sound like an enjoyable occasion.
Even the dog did not like them.
Seems all ended well though.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. I am extremely allergic to all insect bites or stings. I am virtually an indoor person, especially when the insects come out. I would have stayed hidden too. LOL I enjoyed reading.
The next day it was nice to go outside without fear for one's life. (The following day...)

Nice story. well told.
Except for the Japanese cherry trees in Washington, D.C., and maybe a few other exceptions, I don't think it's a very good idea to transport/transplant foreign species into an ecosystem. )Think Kudzu in the south)

Thank you. My dad bought the bees because they were advertised as superior honey producers. All they produced was pain. Lol Hugs

Thanks for this interesting and well written family memory. May father also had a bee hive in the backyard and my son was always afraid of them, though he grew up to become a special forces U.S. Marine. Life is strange! Thanks for including the information about this German species of bee. This could almost be an allegory.

Well done tale of terror and intimidation. Maybe they were genetically altered... their name is ominous. I like the way you addressed not only your family but the chickens and dog. It gave a complete picture of life on your farm, and how vulnerable it can become. I enjoyed it very much.

This is seriously scary as bees are most important to to pollination. But something had to be done here and quickly. All bees are chased away by smoke, even the good ones. I'm glad your eye recovered, and your family, dog and farm.

Thank you. Actually, dad stunned the bees with smoke, then put them back in their shipping cages and sent them back. Smoke just stuns bees. I saw dad catch a wild swarm of bees with smoke. Hugs

This was a very interesting read. The subject was so new and informative too.That in the orchards you need bees for pollination is a well known fact ,but we don't think about bringing them.I just assumed theynwould always be there

Thank you. Nope, all fruit farmers have several bee hives around their orchards. It takes a lot of bees to pollinate acres of fruit trees. Hugs
