It always amused me that bunnies of this era (Beatrix Potter) were invariably pictured, as here, without trousers. Later, I was introduced to the 'sans culottes' of the French Revolution, and for a long time believed that Mary Antoinette had been executed by a mob of bunnies!

Maybe they don't wear pants because they poo a lot and often.
Hahaha... French bunnies manning the guillotine.

I don't speak French but I recognise that word! The other one I know is oui as a companion piece.

From the start of this I was expecting to see Peter Rabbit stealing carrots from Mr McGregor's garden. Loved the twist and glad that no bunny was injured in the writing of this piece.

You got me here Lisa before explaining this was a ceramic breakfast bowl! Rabbits rarely invade gardens in the UK. I see them in the parks though. A fun flash fiction and this could be a winner for the contest, humorous and entertaining, love Dolly x

This is what a flash fiction work is all about, one has to have what is a normal sounding story, and then that ending that comes out of left field, like this one, beautifully written Jenny, good luck, blessings Roy

Thanks for your super review Roy - I'm pleased you appreciated the 'left field' ending. Did you have a bunnykins bowl? I know they were popular in Australia.
reply by royowen on 20-Apr-2022
I?m afraid we didn?t Jenny, although we had lots of bowls, still do.

Excellent writing with a great build up. I have to admit to being shocked when the poor rabbit dropped and exploded. Yet I was sad about the broken bowl too. I have one also, used just today with the one year old. This should do well in the contest. I hope so. Original and creative.

Thanks Wendy. I hope I don't traumatise anyone with the exploding bunny!

I'm glad you're posting as it makes me feel that you're feeling okay!
And you had us scared about a dead bunny in this story. Instead the only destruction was of the bunny-design dishware. I like how you used the flashback in this flash fiction. Best wishes in the contest!!

I'm feeling fine - no sign of Covid symptoms. But Andrew has given it to his mother.
Thanks for reviewing. I love my bunny bowl.

i've heard it is still possible to have it some time after initial contact so I am still keeping away from others for a while in case I do have it and it hasn't shown up yet. I feel it is better to be cautious.

I agree. It was interesting how long the members of my daughter's family took to show symptoms. My son-in-law and oldest granddaughter didn't seem to have it until a week later.
