What a wonderful outcome so the man would leave you alone. Sad to think he was looking for someone already because of his wife's illness. It takes all kinds, doesn't it?

This is a great story!
The writing is descriptive, honest with a hint of whimsy.
I can't relate to the situation but can appreciate your the sentiment.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm happy for Ricardo's wife she is doing better. Hopefully she will continue and keep him occupied and away from you. I agree with you about cats. They know immediately if one likes them or not. Ricardo would never pass. I enjoyed your contest entry. Mystery Author.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

That's quite humorous that he has a shopping list of prospects before his wife is even dead. Wonder if he's disappointed that she's still alive? A very well written story, showing that you are not for everyone- but then neither is he!!
Best wishes for your entry.

Thank you. I think he probably is disappointed. At one point, not in the story, I said maybe Maria (his wife) would recover and come home for good. His answer was, Lord I hope not. What's that tell you?

Excellent entry for the I'm Not for Everyone writing prompt contest. You followed the rules of the contest well.

Boy, Ricardo was persistent! LoL I'm younger but I feel the same as your protagonist.

Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. I was a bit appalled that he asked me to marry him while his wife was still alive. Go figure. Lol

What a nice entry. Unusual, and if I may add...original. Life is full of hidden secrets and stories, and as a cat lover, I was attracted to this. You didn't disappoint. Love live the cat. Humorous, yet calming...pleasing to read.
Bravo.
My best wishes.
Have a pleasant week.

Thank you. I agree, long live the cat. I changed my husband from a cat killer to a cat dad, no easy feat. Lol

I honestly thought this was fiction until I realised it wasn't, it's a bit bizarre to think of someone creating a prospective partner list while one's wife is still alive, we've had 12 cats and 4 dogs in our married life time, heh heh, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thank you. Yep, this was true. I didn't want to be to mean because the fellow and his wife are both good friends. I was trying to send him on his way in a nice manner. Thank God his wife is better and home now. She clipped his wings. Lol

You did well to turn down his awkward pre-proposal. Any man who would propose marriage to another woman while his wife is still alive is a man more concerned with his own happiness than anyone else's. The fact that he wants to marry you indicates that he has probably had sexual fantasies about you and would like no doubt, to see those fantasies acted out.

Thank you. I think you're right. He told me how lucky my husband was to have a (hot) woman. Meaning me. He got his wings clipped when his wife got better and came home.

Darling, could I be a prospect for you? Jk. This is over-the-top funny. It was a delight to read. Thank you for joining in and your submission. It doesn't look as if many wanted to expose themself to observation.

Thank you. I was the worst proposal I ever heard of. I tried my best to send him on his way in a nice manner. I have been friends with both him and his wife for quite some time. He got his wings clipped when his wife came home.

Ha! I loved this! Yes, I wondered all the way through, what kind of a man looks for prospects before his wife is dead? In my eye's not much of a man at all. This is a wonderful story and well written. I wish you much success with the contest.
