An excellent poem for this contest. I wish you good luck, it could do well. I really like the words you choose to start each line to spell out Encourage. Not only did they suit your purpose they very nicely prompted the action that the poem was all about, Very good work. Terry.

Go into a Veterans hospital filled with vets. Or nursing homes full of loved ones waiting to die. This was the saddest experience in my life. At night, you hear those residents shout out for their mother, father, husband all the time before dying. Ones in a coma sit up and reach out to you before taking their last breath. Trying to escape, hitch hiking, or walking home for miles. To find them sitting on their steps. Getting dressed after midnight to go to church. Or getting ready for work. Thank you for sharing. I worked as a Nurse Assistant. Bless their souls.

Thank you. I loved my job, it was rough. However, I believe in helping people with their needs. I had to defend for my brothers and sisters growing up. I was the oldest.

Great job! I especially love the fourth line because it gives the reader something to think about and paints a beautiful image. This is very well done, and the only thing I would suggest thinking about is that although this is a structured poem contest, it seems like a good poem to play around with the rhyme scheme a bit to make it a little more sing-songy, but that is completely up to you and just depends on style.
