Hi Seville... I'm behind, but happy Sunday to you. Interesting choice to add the red emphasis to a bit of each line... Not something I usually see in a Tanka, but perhaps that's why it is so effective! As for the theme? Been there and SO much depended on the value of my self-worth being determined by others! It's a zero-sum game. If you let them keep score you never win!

This tanka, Rejection, looks good and goes to the ultimate to express the emptiness and cold of being denied. Like a wall built around you by others.

This is a powerful poem. The choice of language is very powerful, especially with the link of scar and wound and torn and scorned. The reader is able to take away the message of the poem and the thoughts of being positive. Thanks for sharing.

That's a scary picture, rejection is a terrible feeling, but not everyone will want or love us and we need to temper rejection with acceptance that we cannot please everybody. As long as we are happy with ourselves, many others will accept us, a poignant write, love Dolly x

When I read your full poem I derive a lot from it (I can't say I enjoy it because of the hard subject). But the red font distracts me. Then I find another poem hidden within the first, like a pearl within an oyster, and I am amazed by the skill and beauty of things. Thank you.

To be rejected is terrible, I know that feeling, but betrayal is worse, I've known that feeling, but the trick is not to become embittered, because it destroys the person who is embittered not the object of bitterness, sort of jealousy, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Rejection is a powerful force, I think. Every day, people have the power to pounce their disapproval from out of nowhere. Sometimes a scream is just what's needed. This feels like a great reminder that it's good to be bitter at times. Coping has its urgency. I love the poem's concept of internal tears that the wounder is not allowed to see.

Thank you for sharing this heartfelt poem and you notes that promote the "power of positivity." A powerful message we should all heed. Rejection is a topic close to home so I especially appreciate your work.
Blessings

A very powerful Tanka. Rejection makes you think and feel that something is wrong with you. It is hard to think objectively as you show, it cuts deep.
Good notes and advice to conquer rejection.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes

Rejection is horrid, and it hurts like hell. But if you can get past that, and realise that the person doing the rejecting, is a sad, very sick soul. There are many more nicer people out there who will take care of you. I think the picture and tanka poem, and your author's notes, say it well. Good luck, this is an excellent entry. :))Sandra xx
