Well, I guess so. His parental stock is worthless. A child expects a decent burial, but this makes for a good story. I bet you never did this. Did you? hahaha

I threw a Barbie doll away once and my daughter found it in the trash. Rough day.

A pretty funny story. While it is fiction, it is so well-written, you have to think about it for a moment that it is just that fiction. One can see a dad being put in that unfortunate timing of tossing the fish to the cat, just as the daughter walks in.
My present and past cats would expect the fish to be served on a silver platter, once I handed them a fork and knife.
Brilliant!
Good luck in the contest.

This is funny. I'm sure Frank parental stock was close to worthless for a while. Sometime kids hold funeral services for dead fish before they flush the commode.

My guess would be that the cat returned after a dramatic scene and collected the floored finster.

You see. That is at the heart of my distrust and dislike of cats. They are devious, untrustworthy, and cold blooded snakes in the grass. He knew that he wanted to eat that fish, but he chose to pretend that he did not want any part of it, leaving you to hold the bag and appear to be a low down, dirty, rotten dad.

Poor father and smart cat. I guess he was trying to spare his daughter the shock of facing the dead fish. That cat is a very smart cat.
Best wishes in the contest!!

One comment: "Fred's parental stock" (Did Frank's name change?)

Actually, yes. His name was Frank and then became Mud. Thanks for the catch, Helen, as usual.

Oh no!

This is an interesting read. I am glad this is fiction for sure. Humurous and well written. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with the contest!

pretty funny. Poor dad. Amazing that the cat had a better sense of timing. I'm not a cat person, but I do think they're smarter than some people.
Today, my sister sent me a video of this cat limping up to a door. Apparently the person felt sorry for it and let it in. As soon as it was inside, the limp was gone.

I didn't see where this was going, but you gave this seemingly trivial story a dynamite ending with reference to parental stock. I can see the daughter's shocked face.

Uh huh, funny, but not funny. You did a good job with
your contest entry. Bravo for the smart cat, but Dad not
so much. Your words read smoothly with great imagery.
Best wishes, Jan
