Clever, astute, perfect satire, and yet stone-cold on the money for this madman who justifies a war based on lies... I missed the vote, but so glad you took first place! Best line?

"I'm not disputin' that Putin is mad!"

Smart!

Congratulations!

This limerick-esque poem, Insanity Without Humanity, has that general formatting and suggests that attacking a neighboring country and lying about it is wrong.

Once again, not a subject I'd have thought to put in a Limerick but, as usual, you made it work. You definitely got your point across about Putin's insanity, cruelty and lies, and you did it all within Limerick parameters, in perfect rhyme.

Thanks for reviewing. It's surely not a natural topic for limerick treatment.

You said it, girl! How ironic that they're celebrating their victory over Germany when they're doing the same thing to Ukraine (on a smaller scale).

This whole conflict has taken its toll on me emotionally. All I can do is donate money to the Ukranians. I like that you wrote a humorous little limerick about it. Best regards, Lilly

The irony is sickening. Like you, I have also been deeply affected by this. I hate injustice and brutality - this aggression is on the grand scale of inhumanity.

It is definitely a good idea to write poems, stories about what is happening now in Ukraine. The pen is mightier than the sword. Your poem is strong, the message is clear. I wish you all the best.

Thank you. I believe poets should be activists noting injustices.

Putin is mad for sure. No doubt about it. We were actually supposed to be in Russia right now. We obviously cancelled our trip. Guess we'll never get to see St. Petersburg, and it was one of the few things on my bucket list.
What causes some people to hate so much? Rabies is as good an answer as anything.

What a shame you have missed out on visiting St Petersburg. I visited there in 1979 when it was Leningrad - it truly is a wonderful cultural centre; the Hermitage museum was amazing.
Putin is wrecking his own country as well as Ukraine.

Then he will move onto something else. Maybe someone will shoot him.

Clever limerick ridiculing Putin himself. Anytime, one shows him to be the fool and murderous dictator is needed.
I will not be reviewing often these few days, entertaining my brother-in-law and wife from Arizona but I wanted to comment on you calling out Putin.
Best wishes,
Mary

Given that Putin equates the Ukrainians with the Nazis and the opening lines of this poem, the whole thing is open to interpretation or misinterpretation.

Yes Russia suffered from that invasion and I have read several accounts where both Russian and German soldiers suffered from the cold and hunger. It was a futile attack, and now Russia is flexing their muscles in Ukraine, another futile attack that Putin is getting away with just now, a poignant Limerick and photograph, I wonder what is going on in the minds of these leaders, Putin is not living in the real world and his mental illness has caused him to behave in this way and it should not go unpunished, love Dolly x

When we were in Ukraine they celebrated the Crimean war, they were occupied by Russia back then Russia was moving on the ottomans back, I'll leave the judgement of Putin to God, He can do much better than I, positive or negative, it does nothing to him anyway. Beautifully written Limerick Jenny, blessings Roy

Thanks for your review. It must've been interesting to be in Ukraine and now you can watch the news and know a bit more about the place than others.
