What a lovely little story, despite an unsettling opening, definitely a happy ending. I read somewhere that our traditional teddy bear was taken from a picture of a koala - and ten Paddington cam along - from Peru!

Thank you Jim. Lovely comments. I didn?t know that about teddy bears. Koalas have very soft fur, but don?t really like being handled, although the ones in zoos get used to it. They are ceasing that practice now too, for the sake of the koalas. Thanks again.

A fine story and that flock of birds must have been frightening for any driver, let alone a new one. I remember taking a taxi ride in Greece when a bird suddenly bounced off the windscreen and frightened us all, an entertaining write Wendy, love Dolly x

Aww! What a great story! I'm so glad this event inspired your sister to care for animals professionally. And thanks for teaching me your fancy word for what we call parakeets. I don't think I could spell budgerigars. No wonder some parakeets are called "Budgies."

Awww... what a heartwarming story (except for the unavoidably deceased budgies). A chance encounter turned into a lucky break for 2 koalas, and a career decision for Robbie. Well told - engaging the reader's interest.
(I think it would get more votes if you wrote that the koala attacked Robbie and broke her neck, but you all got down on your knees - glory glory hallelujah - and the angels came to take her to sit with Jesus. Go on - I dare you, haha.)
